 English is not my first language.

But we are only taught in English language as a medium, thanks to all historical accidents and global importance of the language. 

Makes me think ki,
it's better that we were colonised by same power whos language went on to dominate the world, The England.
and not some rank 2 or 3 colonial powers jinki language agar aaj tkk carry krrhe hote hmlog, like Spanish or French.
and on top of that probably English as global language seekh rhe hote,
aur native language to ofcourse mother tongue Hindi hoti.
Plus, itna sari native languages already exist krrhi india mein..
kaafi khichdhi...

Well in that case,
we might have thrown away French /Spanish by now,
and embraced English as a sign of resistance to formal colonial power?

But this hasn't happened in Latin America,
what makes you think we would have pulled this off?

well thats coz its a global language and that was my starting point as well.
